Fudge Cake

2 cups sifted cake flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup shortening
1-1/3 cups brown sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
4 ounces (squares) chocolate, melted
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup milk

Sift flour, salt and soda together.

Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs. Blend in chocolate and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately.

Bake in greased pans at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Makes 2 (9-inch) layers.
