Fudgy Brownies with Peanut Butter Chips
1/2 cup (1/4 lb.) butter or margarine, cut into chunks
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup peanut butter-flavor baking chips
In a 2- to 3-quart pan over low heat, combine butter and chocolate; when ingredients begin to soften, stir until melted and blended. Remove from heat; add granulated and brown sugars, eggs, and vanilla, then beat until smooth. Beat in flour.
Spread batter in a greased, 8-inch-square baking pan. Sprinkle with baking chips. Bake in a 350 degrees F oven until brownie feels firm at edges and springs back in center when gently pressed, about 25 minutes. Let cool in pan on a rack. Cut into bars or squares.
Makes 1 dozen.
