In today’s fast-paced world, convenience is important. However, choosing nutritious foods is also important, especially if you have heart disease. There are many foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol that can be quickly prepared and eaten on the go. For example, grab a toasted bagel and banana to bring to the office. Purchase juice and/or skim milk from a cafeteria or vending machine or, if possible, keep some in your office refrigerator. If you have time to sit down at home, fix a quick bowl of whole-grain cereal with skim milk and fresh fruit or raisins. Try these quick, easy and portable snacks: baby carrot sticks, unsalted pretzels, low-fat whole grain crackers, fresh fruit, low-fat yogurt, or 100 percent fruit juice.
