Hash brown burgers

HASH BROWN BURGERS

1 lb. lean ground beef
3/4 cup shredded raw potato
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
2 T. chopped green bell pepper (optional)
1/4 tsp. each salt, pepper
1 cup tomato juice
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 T. water
1 T. flour

In a large bowl; stir ground beef, shredded potato, onion, beaten egg, green pepper, salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir until ingredients are well mixed. Divide beef mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a 1/2" thick oval patty.

In a large skillet, brown patties 3 minutes per side. Carefully add tomato juice, worcestershire, 1/4 tsp. pepper to skillet. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat; cover, simmer 10-15 minutes, until burgers are cooked through. Transfer burgers to a serving platter, keep warm; reserve cooking liquid in skillet. In a cup, stir water, flour. Stir flour mixture into reserved cooking liquid in skillet. Cook, stir until gravy is thickened, bubbly; cook, stir 1 minute more. Serve gravy over burgers.
