How do you cook flash-frozen fish fillets?

I buy the 10 pound boxes of flash-frozen fish fillets (haddock, pollack, cod, etc.) and I’m getting tired of the baking in butter, lemon juice, dill and green peppers deal. As good as that is, I’d really like some new ideas - Help!

Hi! Is the entire box frozen together so you need to cook it all at once? Your answer to that would be helpful & then I’m sure you’ll get many suggestions. Please let us know, thanks for the posting. I’d also like to hear suggestions.

Hi to you almonds! The entire box of fillets is frozen as a clump, however, you can get them apart easily as “flash-freezing” is different than regular wet or damp freezing. The problem with these fillets is that when they thaw they get soft and tend to kind of fall apart. That’s why it’s a good baking fish vs grilling or frying.

But I’m NOT the best cook on the planet so I do welcome any suggestions!

P.S. These fish have a minimal amount of flavor on their own but you get what you pay for and at only $1.00 per pound, no science here!!

I will do that Kitchen Witch ~ and thank you! Oh wait a second, I just had a grand idea - how about fish/clam/oyster/corn (or?) chowder ??? mmmmmm…

AliceM…Please check your personal messages, I sent one of our favorites. I really have to post it here also. It’s so good…now I want the tartar sauce!

Awesome! That’s the way we cook our fresh sunfish, walleyes, bass and crappies!! I thought that flash-frozen stuff would fall apart, but I’ll give it a try and let you know. (Sorry moderators if this was supposed to go into private, still fairly new at this fun forum gathering.)
