KAHLUA DATE NUT BREAD
1 cup pitted dates, chopped
1/2 cup Kahlua liquor
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons shortening
1 large egg
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup warm water
Combine dates, Kahlua, water and orange peel. Let stand while
Beat sugar, shortening and egg together until fluffy.
Resift flour with soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, alternately,
with date mixture. Stir in nuts. Turn into greased 10 1/4 x 3 5/8 x 2
5/8-inch loaf pan. Let stand 5 minutes, then bake in 350 degree F
oven for 60 to 70 minutes.
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup soft butter
1 tablespoon Kahlua
Beat together softened cream cheese and softened butter until smooth.
Stir in Kahlua.
