Kenney's Broiled Burger Sauce ('50's - '80's)

I don’t know how many of you remember the old “Kenney’s Drive In’s” that were McDonalds rivals here in the South (maybe other places to??) They had a rich creamy sauce on their burgers. This sauce is about as close as I can get to duplicate what my tastebuds remember. Hope you enjoy this as much as my family does. The grandbabies don’t want anything else on their burgers but “Omie’s sauce”.

KENNEY’S BROILED BURGER SAUCE (1950’S – 1980’S)

1/4 CUP Ketchup
1/4 cup Catalina dressing
2 Tbsp. Sour Cream
2 Tbsp. Sweet Pickle Relish
Dash Worcestershire Sauce

Wisk all ingredients together – makes about 2/3 cup sauce. Keep tightly covered and refrigerated. Use within 2 months. (good on Hot Dogs to!)

I used ketchup, “Wendy’s” bbq sauce, (I suggest no hickory flavored bbq sauce - you’ll have to find the right one for you) pickle relish, a drop or 2 of Worchester & a very little finely chopped onion. I cooked for about 20-min. to incorporate. Dipped my burger into the sauce & it was real close. By the way - the original sauce is for sale from Mr. Bill Kenney himself for “Habitat for Humanity” donations. See the web-site, or google search Bill Kenney. Enjoy! Roanoke, Va. Orange Ave. “Kenney’s” memories!!! Patty
