Lose the Tube (Heart Health)

Overall, Americans are not very physically active. This is even true of America’s children. Each day, most 8- to 18-year-olds spend an average of four hours watching television, videos, and DVDs, more than an hour on the computer, and about 50 minutes playing video games.
As a parent or a caregiver, you have more control over the amount of time your children spend in front of the screen than you think. Entertain your children with other types of fun activities that engage both their minds and their bodies. You can turn off the TV and video games only in your child’s room, or in the entire home. It’s your choice. You can also try to make a family agreement to limit TV and video watching to two hours or less each day.
