Tostadas are NOT made with flour tortillas. They are made with corn tortillas which are much healthier anyway. The corn tortillas are fried briefly in oil and then laid on a flat surface to harden flat. After cooling, the ingredients are then piled on.
Flour tortillas won’t harden unless they are cremated and they contain a lot of fat or lard. They’re used for burritos or tacos but corn tortillas can also be used for tacos.
