I love anything and everything that contains coconut. This dessert is usually called a magic bar or 7-layer bar, but I only have 5 layers, so I guess you can call it whatever you want
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups vanilla wafers or graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter or coconut oil (healthier option)
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 can condensed milk (less if you do not want it too sweet)
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup sliced almonds
Anything else sweet you’d like to add
What to do…
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter or coconut oil (it is usually solid).
- In a bowl, mix together vanilla wafer/graham cracker crumbs with melted butter/oil until well blended.
- In a baking dish (9 x 13), firmly pack in the vanilla wafer/graham cracker crumbs mixture. Make sure it is evenly spread out. This will be your crust.
- Evenly spread out the condensed milk over the crust.
- Do the same with the chocolate chips, then almonds, then shredded coconut. If you are adding any other sweet goodies, do so before evenly spreading out the coconut. The shredded coconut should be the top most layer.
- In pre-heated oven (375 degrees), bake for 25-30 minutes or until the coconut is a golden brown color.
- Cool completely (at least an hour) before cutting into bars or squares. Cutting it while its hot will result in a crumbly mess (but still very delicious).
