making fried tempura ice cream from scratch

hi everyone. i’m making ice cream right now and it’ll be in the machine in the morning. i know i have to wrap the ice cream in pound cake before i batter and fry it, but is it possible for me to sort of skip a step and just wrap the ice cream with the pound cake right out of the machine? i’m aware that the ice cream needs to freeze for quite a bit before it is ready, but will it matter if it spends that time wrapped in bread and plastic? thanks for the help in advance.
