Mama's Banana Pudding

The real thing!

4 cups milk
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1/3 cup self-rising flour
1 cup white sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla flavoring

Heat 3 cups milk while you beat the yolks with the remaining milk. Add the vanilla and pour in with the sugar and the flour. Stirring frequently to almost all the time, cooking on med-high heat. When it flakes somewhat off the spoon, remove from heat. Layer a casserole dish with wafers, bananas, pudding until all are used. Then take the whites from the eggs and beat with about a tsp of cream of tarter and about 1/2 cup sugar until it is smooth and stands in peaks. Pile on the pudding and brown in a 350 degree oven. Then enjoy!
