My homemade pea & lentil soup

I am a bad person loL I DON’T MEASURE ANYTHING, WELL ALMOST NEVER…
SO THAT SAID…
Equal amounts of yellow split peas and red split lentils
The more you use the more broth you will need.

Add about 4 times the amount of broth to the pot and more as you go if it gets too thick for you.
Add chopped onions one large sweet onion is good.
Add 2 grated carrots
Add as much chopped ham as you like to pot.

Add more chicken cubes for flavor I usually add a box of six cubes to pot.
Pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, sweet basil as per your taste buds … be careful about adding salt so keep testing as it cooks
Takes long to cook so keep heat med to low for a few hours stir constantly ( or it will stick to bottom of pot and burn on you )until peas and lentil are soft and no longer have that crunch .

When cooled if you like take 1/3 of soup and put in blender for a creamier soup.
My friends and family go crazy over this soup so I hope you enjoy it as well.
