Need recipe for chocolate cake.

I am looking for a recipe for a chocolate cake my husband grandmother used to make. It was a chocolate cake with a hard chocolate icing. Please help. Thanks in aadvanced for anyone who can help me.

you didn’t say if you needed a chocolate cake recie to go with it - but this is a recipe of a chocolate icing that will set up hard - if this doesn’t work for you just let me know - I have more

HARD CHOCOLATE GLAZE
SETS UP HARD

1/2 cup unsalted butter
10 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate

Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Combine chocolate with butter in the top
of double boiler, over simmering water. Stir frequently until melted and smooth.
Remove from heat; drizzle over cake.

Fudge Frosting

3 cups sugar
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1 cup milk
4 ounces (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate
5 tbsp butter, at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract

Cook sugar, syrup, milk and chocolate, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking to 232 F (the syrup forms a very soft ball in cold water). Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

Remove from heat, add butter and cool without stirring until the bottom of the saucepan feels lukewarm.

Add vanilla and beat until frosting is creamy and barely holds its shape. Spread quickly on cake before the frosting hardens.

*Frosts tops and sides of 2 (9-inch) cake layers.

Fudge Cake

2 cups sifted cake flour
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup shortening
1-1/3 cups brown sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
4 ounces (squares) chocolate, melted
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup milk

Sift flour, salt and soda together.

Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs. Blend in chocolate and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately.

Bake in greased pans at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Makes 2 (9-inch) layers.

Thanks Aline and Kitchen Witch. I’m not sure if this is the right recipe or not but I will try it and let my husband tell me if it’s what his grandmother used to make or not. Again, thanks alot for your help.
