We were watching one of those infomercials the other day on the Ninja cooking system. Normally I take those with a grain
of salt because if it sounds too good to be true normally it isn’t. Well the more I watched it I got to thinking that the steam cooking
was a good thing. They wanted 199.99 on the infomercial, so I passed. In a couple of days Southern Gal went to Bed Bath and
Beyond and found the Ninja and she had a 20% coupon and got it for $136. It was just like they said about the steaming.
The first time I used it I steamed potatoes and veggies. Southern Gal said that was the best potato she had ever eaten. I have
to agree with her because it was moist and not waxy. I cooked potatoes again in it rather than baking them and again they
were excellent. Today I heard that you could steam eggs and they would peel easily so I did eggs and potatoes today, and
eggs peeled very easily and tasted just like boiled.
I would recommend you get one because I think you would really enjoy it.
I took a look at the Ninja cooking system and it looks like a nice little system It would free up some counter space because it does several things. Bake, slow cook and roast.
I may get one also. Thanks!
Yes it has all the functions you stated. The bake function can be used with or without water. I prefer to use water to get the steam and veggies are very moist and tasty. It works just like an oven in that you set the temperature to 350, and the advantage its has over most ovens is you can set the timer and it cuts off when the time is up. Baked potatoes take about an hour. I am sure it uses less electricity than an oven, and it does not heat up your kitchen. A warm kitchen is welcomed in winter but not in summer. I have also used the slow cook to make jambalaya, and it worked very well so I no longer need a crockpot.
My wife read this morning that Good Housekeeping has given the Ninja cooker a 5 star rating. I think it is absolutely the best device to steam vegetables. I am using it more and more. We saw over the weekend that Ninja food processor that will replace your food processor and blender. I makes terrific smoothies, and it grinds ice so fine that you can make slurpies for the kids.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I read that if you steam hard boiled eggs, the shell comes away easily without sticking.
I steam potatoes in their jackets for potato salad. After they cool to handling temperature, the skins slip off easily with no waste. All of the white of the potato stays with it. Also, you don’t have to drain heavy pans full of boiling water, etc.
I put potatoes and eggs in the Ninja yesterday. I put in 5 cups of water, set the timer for 1 hour and the temperature at 350. I took the eggs out after 30 minutes, and you are correct that they peel very easily without sticking. When the timer stopped at 1 hour I took the potatoes out and we had them just as they had been baked for dinner. The potatoes and eggs come out perfect every time.
I saw another infomercial last week about the Ninja Blender. So we tried to order one and the wait was up to 6 weeks because of all the orders they had received. So my wife again went to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought one. I can say without a doubt this machine will replace both your blender and food processor. It does everything they claimed it would. We had tried making a smoothie in our old blender and it was so thick you had to eat it with a spoon. We made a smoothie yesterday with the Ninja and I drank it with a straw. Super machine!
The Ninja blender will make ice cream. Antelope posted a biscuit recipe with rice flour, and I have not made it to the Asian store to get some. According to the author the homemade rice flour is much better than what you buy. See recipe in the exchange forum.
