No Bird Baths

[b]This is absolutely a change from my normal practice of washing meats, but it sure does make a lot of sense;

Washing uncooked chicken just spreads germs, says health campaign

If you’re thinking of washing that chicken before you cook it, please step away from the faucet. Do not wash the bird, despite what you might have heard from celebrity chefs. Washing poultry before cooking increases the chances of spreading foodborne pathogens such as salmonella and Campylobacter over the rest of your kitchen, as this animation from Drexel University’s “Don’t Wash Your Chicken” public health campaign demonstrate (sorry, the 14sec video didn’t post). Studies have found bacteria can fly up to three feet away from where meat is rinsed. To kill the unwanted bacteria that’s almost certainly lurking on that delicious chicken, experts say all you have to do is cook meat properly (a thermometer can help), and keep utensils and cooking surfaces clean.

I just read about this yesterday. I was going to post it here, but decided not to to avoid a firestorm.

I will try this.

Is it necessary to soak them in water for a while ?
