It’s the ultimate in bad timing: You’re out of town on a business trip or a vacation and your blood glucose monitor quits. What now? Fortunately, there are things you can do to get a new monitor and keep tabs on your blood glucose in the meantime.
Continue monitoring your blood glucose using visual test strips like BetaChek, Uni-Check, or Glucostix. These are available without a prescription at most pharmacies. In the meantime, call the customer service number on the back of the meter. It’s usually toll-free. Most companies will try to replace the meter within a day or two.
