Made these last night and it was all gone this morning! Nice and fudgy, but not overly sweet…just right!
3 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup sour cream
1 cup flour
1 to 1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)
In top of double boiler over hot, not boiling, water, melt chocolate and butter. Cool slightly.
Combine sugar, eggs, sour cream, vanilla and salt in large bowl; blend in chocolate mixture. Stir in (by hand) the flour until just combined (do not overmix); fold in walnuts. Spread in greased 8x8-inch pan.
Bake at 325 F for about 36-38 minutes (brownies should still be soft). Cool completely in pan. Frost if desired.
