Onion Fritters: Hubby thought it was potatoes

When my hubby first tasted these fritters he thought they were potatoes, which he is not suppose to eat because of his Diabeties.

Onion Fritters:
3/4 cup flour
1 Tablespoon Cornmeal
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Tablespoon sugar or sugar substitute
3/4 cup Milk
1 cup Chopped Onions
1 small Jalapeno Pepper; seeded and chopped
1/2 cup Cheddar Cheese, cut in small cubes
1 or 2 Cloves Garlic, chopped

In medium bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir in milk, peppers, garlic and cheese and blend until moistened.
Heat cast iron skillet until hot with a small amount of Olive Oil. Drop by tablespoon into skillet and fry like you would a pancake or potato cakes until golden.
Serve with sour cream if desired.
