Restaurant connection

Do you know someone who works in a restaurant?
Did you know that most allow their employees to purchase from them at cost, coz it increases their buying power ?
Restaurants get prices that are usually a few pennies below supermarket sale prices. But the quality they get if far superior. Sometimes products they get, like beef, are better cuts than you can get elsewhere. Even things like sauces are better than from supermarkets. If you know anyone who works at a restaurant, ask if you can buy from them.
For instance, twice a year, I get strip loins. It’s because I know that a supermarket is forbidden to sell the same quality. But it’s like $65 to $80 to get, coz ya’ gotta buy the whole thing.
And broths, or soup bases. The quality beats anything on the supermarket shelves.
Couple years ago, I laid out $289 for a dozen 1lb. lobster tails. Great deal…but I should of found others to chip in. No complains though, they were GREAT !
oh look, it’s the Edit Fairy

Most of the restaurants I have worked in will let you but some things (NOT ALL) cheaply. I think you were really lucky with the lobster tails, expensive I know, but everything is always better quality from a restaurant larder as it is soo much fresher than supermarkets or grocery stores as it is bought direct from suppliers or the market.
