Salsa Picante

I am looking for a recipe for a nice Picante Salsa, like PACE in the States. I live in Spain now and there is no good off the shelf product.

I have a clone -

1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce

28 ounces water
1 medium yellow onion, minced
2 fresh jalapeno peppers, with seeds,minced
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Place all ingredients in heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat and simmer until thick - about 30 minbutes. Remove from heat; cool.

Store airtight in refrigerator.

Makes 1 qt.

I’ve made this and I’ve cut back on the water, used 1 jalapeno, and added a ppinch of red pepper flakes. You can play with this recipe easily.
