Sausage / Kielbasa ??

I have several Polish cookbooks and according to all of them Kielbasa is the Polish word for Sausage. It is not a type/flavor of sausage but any sausage made in Poland.

There are several styles of Kielbasa just like there is of German Sausages, American Sausages and others

I make jambalaya and add slices of sauted kielbasa sausage to it.

Very plain, easy yet delicious meal is kielbasa, sauerkraut and boiled potatoes.

At our work cafeteria years ago, they once served a really good sausage dish for breakfast. I think it was for Christmas and the dish was catered in. I wish I had caught the name and could get the recipe. Here the description:

Fried whole white sausages (Bratwursts?) with sauerkraut and peeled, sliced cooked apples in a brown sugar like sauce that was seasoned with cinnamon. It was really good.

Does anyone know of a dish similar to this? It must have been a dish of Polish or German origin.

Those both look very close to what I remembered. Thanks!
