Skirt Steak Teriyaki

1 teaspoon ginger
3 cloves garlic, sliced
1/3 cup grated onion
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
14 cup water
1-1/2 pounds skirt steak

Combine first six ingredients. Pour over steak and let stand 3 to 4 hours turning often. Preheat grill, cook steak 4-5 minutes, brushing with marinade and turning often. Cut into thin slices on the diagonal. Will serve 5.

This is the tastiest of steaks and very tender, we like it with scalloped potatoes and a green salad loaded with fresh vegetables in season from the garden and a home made vildalia onion dressing.
