slowcooker italian herbed chicken

while shopping friday night i found this slow cooker spice package by club house called italian herb chicken.

the package directions called for 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken, 1/2 lb mushroom, 1 - 28 oz can diced tomatoes and 1 - 5 oz can tomato paste mixed with spiced package.

i just used 3 lbs of chicken leg quarters, used chopped fresh tomatoes instead of canned, added chopped onion, garlic & green peppers and for some heat i added some crushed, dried red chilies. it was really good.

Rho - this sounds really good!! Do you mind me sharing two of the Italian Herb Seasoning recipes that I have? - it?s good for sauces, meatballs, pasta dishes, etc. It may be cheaper - I don’t know what packages cost in Canada - but here it’s much cheaper to make your own.

Here are small batch recipes for you to try - you can always increase it if you like it and make as much as you want.

Italian Seasoning Herb Blend I

2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried marjoram
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried sage

Combine all ingredients; store in an airtight container.

Italian Seasoning Herb Blend II

1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon Marjoram
1 teaspoon Basil
1 teaspoon Rosemary
1 teaspoon Thyme
1 teaspoon Sage

Combine all ingredient; store in airtight container.
Makes 2 T.

Let me know if you try either of these.

not at all. the package was $1.49. it wasn’t just seasonings…it has cornstarch in it so that it thickens while it cooks. a lot of people may not have all the ingredients you listed above and the package is quick and convenient. was really good too.

I usually keep jars of “stuff” in the pantry for quickies - just a habit. But your chicken recipe sounds really good!
