Southwestern Beef Soup

1 lb boneless beef round, cut into thin strips
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (14-1/2 oz) peeled tomatoes, chopped
1 cup whole kernel corn, frozen
1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
2 corn tortilla, in strips
2 tablespoons chopped green onion (optional)

Stir-fry beef in hot oil, 2 to 3 minutes. Place all ingredients except tortilla strips and green onion into slow cooker. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low. Place tortilla strips in soup bowls, cover with soup. Sprinkle with green onion.
