Spotting Foot Trouble ( Diabetes )

Seeing spots? If those blotches of red, blue, purple, or any other color are on your feet, you should visit your doctor. There are many reasons why the skin on your feet could change color. Some are serious (gangrene), while others are not (dye from your socks), but the most important thing is that you get your feet checked.

When you see your doctor, he or she will evaluate the color change along with more general signs and symptoms. Expect your doctor to look at your skin; check the pulses in your thighs, ankles, and big toes; feel the temperature of your skin, check for infections and broken bones; and evaluate the blood circulation to your feet and legs.
