SWEET ‘N’ SPICY BARBECUED BEEF
Ingredients:
5 lb. trimmed beef brisket
Salt and pepper
1 T. garlic powder
2 C. chunky picante sauce
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1/2 C. Worcestershire sauce
10 French rolls, sandwich rolls or hamburger buns
4 T. melted butter or margarine
Season brisket with salt, pepper and garlic and place in
3-quart shallow baking dish. Mix salsa, brown sugar and
Worcestershire and spread over brisket. Cover and
refrigerate overnight.
Bake, covered with foil, at 300ºF for 41/2 to 5 hours or until
tender.
Before serving, slice rolls in half and brush each half lightly
with butter, then put under broiler and lightly toast. Slice
brisket and pile on top of rolls and serve with a little of the
juices spooned over meat. Serve remaining juices in a bowl
on the side.
Makes 10 servings.
