Ingredients:
2 cups flour
4 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup milk
Preheat oven to 400 F. Sift dry ingredients together. Rub in butter until the mixture is crumbly like cracker crumbs. Add milk and mix until dough comes together. Roll dough out to 1 1/2-2 inches thick. Using a cutter or a small glass that’s been floured, cut out biscuits and put in a round metal pan (the biscuits will use the heat of the pans’ sides as well as each other to climb higher in the pan. Cook until done - anywhere from 8-12 minutes depending on your oven. The tops won’t really be golden unless you brush with an egg/milk wash. The bottoms will be golden instead.
Serve with butter, jam and creme fresh or clotted cream if desired.
