I can’t say enough about this !
I know a lot of parents worry about their children using an oven, or a stove top, yet teaching their usage at an early age actually avoids accidents later on.
And what a wonderful bonding experience it is. I’ve never seen a 6 year older prouder then when they announce…“I cooked the whatever !”
By the age of 5, I knew how to make pudding, english muffin pizzas, and farina. I was set for life…LOL
Teaching cooking at an early age, is a life long benifit for us all.
Hi, I can’t agree more with you. These days families are busy. We should try and teach our kids to cook from an early age. Also some husbands have never learned to cook, so ladies it will help them as well as you, if your sick in hospital they won’t starve.
It’s so weird for me to remember learning to cook pudding. I was like 4 yo’s old, living in a foster home, and there was this 12 yo girl there that loved making and eating pudding. So she would give me a quarter to go to the store and get a package for pudding, and she would make it, and share with me. Didn’t take me long to watch what she was doing to make it. And once I learned, I spent the next four years making pudding at everybody’s whim, AND I LOVED DOING IT !
And one trick to getting kids to eat veggies, is to teach them how to cook it ‘right’. They get proud when they do…
I think it is important to teach to cook your child. Because in the future, it may be helpful for child. In the last month, I read a magazine and in it one topic on it that a 12 years girl won the 10000 $ cash for one recipe.
You’re so right…besides, who wants their child to go off to college & have to eat p-nut butter sandwiches…kidding…
This is a great reminder to everyone. No matter how old your kids are or how long it takes to complete a recipe, every child should learn cooking basics, safety rules & clean up. Thanks.
I agree it’s so important to teach children to cook. Just the basics is enough. Kids love to bake cakes and it’s better for them than eating some ready made sweet with lots of added
sugars.
