Toffee Crunch Grahams

Toffee Crunch Grahams

12 whole graham crackers
1 1/2 cups butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups sliced almonds

Line a 15 x 10 inch baking pan with heavy-duty foil. Place the graham crackers in the pan. In a saucepan, combine the butter and the brown sugar. Bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Carefully pour over the graham crackers. Sprinkle with the almonds. Bake at 400 F for 6-8 minutes or until bubbly. Cool in the pan for 4 minutes. Cut each cracker into four sections. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Thanks for reminding me of this, another recipe I’ve made in the past.

I made a slightly different variation though. I followed most of the above steps but eliminated the nuts at this point However, once cooled completely (don’t even have to do this step the same day) I dipped each piece in chocolate coating, then sprinkled with chopped nuts or even decorative seasonal sprinkles. It just added another layer of flavor & they lasted a long time.

The above recipe is really great, also very easy. Once you do the basic part you can take it to other dimensions of your liking. If you choose to do the chocolate dip, you could even add a flavored extract…be sure it is a real extract & not something artificial or the chocolate will seize…mint or peppermint might be nice with crushed mint candies on the top. Just go for it.

Thanks for posting…I’ll be making this over the holidays…easy grab’n’eat & eat more.

You don’t have to let it cool and dip in chocolate…as soon as you take them out of the oven sprinkle Hershey’s chocolate chips over the graham crackers and it starts to melt immediately. Then just take a back side of a spoon and smooth the chocolate over them. You can sprinkle your nuts (whatever kind of chopped nut you like) over the top and let set in frig to cool (or just leave on the counter overnight) when cooled break apart in the size pieces you want.

Very nice. Few ingredients and a pretty well decent meal. Will try it this weekend.
