Tropical Trifle

1 pkg Butter Pecan Cake mix, plus ingredients to make it
1 pkg (3 oz) French vanilla or coconut cream pudding mix, plus ingredients to make it
1 cup chopped nuts, pecans, walnuts, or macadamia nuts
1 cup coconut, divided
1 large can crushed pineapple, well drained
1 (16 oz) container Cool Whip, thawed

Mix cake and bake according to package directions in any pan you choose.

Cool cake and break into bite sized pieces; set aside

Make pudding and chill to set.

Set aside 2 Tbsp or a good pinch of the nuts for garnish.

In a large bowl layer ingredients in the following order, using at least three layers of each:

cake pieces
Cool Whip

For the final layer, top with the last of the Cool Whip and sprinkle with reserved nuts.

This loosely reminds me of German Chocolate Cake, but only because of the nuts and coconut. It may be worth a try though. I’ve never been huge on pineapple by itself but it definitely works well in recipes. Thanks for the recipe Nebulized.
