I grew up on this recipe also.
WILTED LETTUCE SALAD
Remove core from 1 small head of lettuce. Rinse well in cold water, dry. Tear into pieces. Put into a bowl, cover and chill.
Prepare: 1 boiled egg. 5 bacon slices - crisp and crumbled into pieces.
Combine in skillet:
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup salad oil
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/6 teaspoon pepper
Heat to a boiling, stirring. Pour mixture over lettuce. Mix in crumbled bacon. Garnish with egg slices.
