I would have to vote for Chicago. Many, many outstanding ethnic restaurants. However, Riva, on Navy pier comes immediately to mind. The grilled Octopus over spring salad is the best appetizer and the grilled Sea Base on a plank the best entrée.
As a retired Navy Officer, I must say that I have been to several of the places previously listed. For consistently good foods, a Battle Group staff is high on the list. Each Admiral is able to choose a personal chef from a pool of available, well trained, and proficient stewards.
Highest on my list will go to The Salzburg Chalet in Agana, Guam. I have had the opportunity to eat there several times, and have never been disappointed by the foods, service, or atmosphere. It is worth the trip. There are some Mongolian Restaurants in Kadina, Okinawa, and a Pizza places in Stadthagen, Germany that are also memorable.

i live about twenty miles north of salt lake city.in Ogden Utah .and the best food i have ever had would be just up the street.its a little tiny restaurant call lee’s Mongolian BBQ. its a little place just off the main blvd. but if you drive by it is so very worth a stop.and don’t let the bowls of raw food scare you .they cook it while you watch…its great
I have traveled extensively in the US and in Latin America.
I have to admit my favorite meal has been at a “hole in the wall” restaurant in Managua, Nicaragua, the Bypass Restaurant, and their version of cordon bleu; they call it a Gordon Blue and it is a taste delight.
My favorite place in the ENTIRE WORLD to eat is a place called “Mothers” in New Orleans, Louisiana…the place has a waiting line completely around the building just about all day…but let me tell you…the wait is definitely worth it…UNBELIEVABLE JAMBALAYA, cornbread, crawfish ettufee, etc…honestly…you MUST try it if you’re in the neighborhood! I’ve tried to duplicate it myself, and have come close, but not quite the same!
My favorite spot to eat is a restaurant not far from my home - called The Argonne Supper Club. They have the BEST shrimp anywhere around! It is located just outside Charlevoix, Michigan and is very popular.
For me, it would be a tossup between Amsterdam and Bologna
Amsterdam for variety: French, Dutch, German, Belgian, Italian, Indonesian et al. and sumptuous breakfast buffets
And for Bologna - I always gained five pounds the moment the plane landed there

My favorite all time place to eat is Morton’s of Chicago Steakhouse. The food is to die for and the sevice is exceptional!!

Charleston has an abundance of great places to eat. However, RB’s a wonderful Seafood/Steak restaurant on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant is wonderful. The atmosphere is a delight as you can watch the yacht’s come in and if you are lucky will see a dolphin swim by in the canal.
An excellent seafood dish they have is the shrimp and crab scampi. It has an abundance of flake crab meat along with jumbo shrimp sauted in a wonderful garlic, wine, butter sauce. As well as many other wonderful food choices.
My family and I ventured into Pasta Vinos in Sudbury Ont Canada.THE BEST CHICKEN AND VEAL PARMESAN EVER TASTED
It’s been a number of years since we were in San Francisco, the city which has not only the best food, but the best variety of foods as well as the best combination of other features to find in any city to visit.
The Dungeness Crab there is the best crab to be had anywhere in the world, and although I don’t recall a specific recipe much less a particular restaurant, San Francisco is THE city to visit.
I have traveled all over the world but must say the best SINGLE meal I had was in a small town in North Carolina named Weaverville. While staying in a B/B we visited a place called Blue Mountain. Casual, friendly and food so fresh it was purchased that same afternoon at the local farmers market. Pizza, pasta, cheesecake, everything we tasted danced in our mouths.NEVER would I have expected such a meal in this small mountain town but for the first time I ask to see the owner or chef and to thank them personally. They had live mountain music and we ended up spending hours taking in the atmosphere. It was the SINGLE best evening my family had experienced. Just goes to show you never know what you will find when going off the beaten path.
A couple of years ago I had a “Hot Brown” at the Brown Hotel in Louisville Ky. it was magnificent, Chef Castro also has some other delights you should try
I have done a lot of traveling and tasted many fine foods in many fine restaurants, however, I really enjoy Boston, Ma. and Florence, Italy. It must be the Italian in me. Unfortunately, I can’t name any specific dishes at this time, although a number of them pop into my head - as in, I wish I was there - not here.
I am very partial to the East Coast. The eastern seaboard offers up (I think) the best seafood. When you go to a restaurant and ask for crab cakes…they will be “Maryland” crab cakes. There’s no doubt what you are eating…blue crabs… bay seasoning…very little filler. Soft-shell crabs…marvelously good!!! I’m missing them now
I have many favorites in many different cities. North Carolina, Tarboro it would be Abrahms Restaurant And Catering, they have the best Southern BBQ Pig there is. They also make the best fluffy Cheese biscuits ever made also. They also own O’Hentry’s Restaurant and they have the best Ribs and Potatoe skins there. In NY its Three Brothers Pizza that I adore.
In California it’s anything at Mother’s. In florida I loved the Drama and the Food at Arabian Knights. But my very favorite restaurant in the world is the Magic Pan in Boston MA, they make the best Crepes in the world there. The Food at the many restaurants in my home town of Wilbraham and close by Hampdenare great too. The Boar’s Head, The Hampden House, ODriscoll’s Pub, to name just a few, they all have soooo many great dishes to choose from. I cant make a choice of just one but I do love this little Italian place in Springfield called Santi’s, I remember my first bowl of “Sketti” in a fancy restaurant was there, and the meatballs were almost as big as my head!
