I think Chicago has the best food. It has a wide varity of ethenic foods to choose from.
My faviort is the Chicagoland Pizza and Overgirnders on Clark Street. They have a unique way of making a deep dish pizza.
I now live in California and can not find desent food… the fruits and veggie are great but for normal food…
Ella…you are oh, so right!!! I think of Gibby’s, often! But, it’s difficult to find a bad restaurant in Montreal!! I love Old Montreal…so very French…
I travel to St.Martin in the Caribbean, often, and am always amazed at the fine cuisine found throughout the island, especially, in the little French village of Grand Case!! I have a few favorites!! ooooolala!!
I used to live in Hubbell, Michigan in the upper Northern part of the Upper Peninsula, in the Copper Country. In the town I worked in, Hancock, there was a cafe on main street (the only “main” street in the whole town) called the Kaleva Cafe. They had the best pasties I have ever eaten anywhere else. I have been known to take a long weekend and drive up there from North Central Ohio, where I live now, just to get some of those to put in the freezer. They also had a pastry called a “prune tart” that was absolutely delicious and would literally melt in your mouth. I would stop and get one every single mornng with a steaming hot cup of coffee on the way to work and take a tart with me for my coffee break. I wish I had the recipe for the tarts. This is a great restaurant, great food, teriffic friendly service and very reasonable prices. To me it’s probably my favorite all time restaurant.
hi Ron and recipe peeps…I l loooove Wolfgang Pucks in Orlando…the food is original, fresh, and the staff is helpful and friendly…more than anxious to explain the menu…and methods of preparation…I’ve eaten there with my family numerous times…and its always a great meal…with original items like pumpkin ravioli
Well, I dont travel very much, but I do have to agree with a few people about San Francisco. I live outside Sacramento, but when I was younger,
San Francisco was a 2nd home to me. I loved all the seafood and there are so many choices. Also Buca Di Peppo is great. I really have not found a great chinese food resaurant yet. I do love these recipes that you have posted here. Cant wait to try them. One of my favorite recipes I snatched from an x-boyfriend’s sister in law. It is a
Macadamia Nut Cheesecake, which she sells to restaurants.
Please–send us your recipes!

Well it looks like the americans seem to beat the world hands down in the art of food, but in my mind there seems to be a good food guide and that is in Luxembourg, here the food is a mixture French, German, Belguim, and Dutch, now we can see that this is a menu to die for, the kidny’s in a red wine meat base sauce is so mouth watering that one finishes of with a creme crepe saute in orange and brandy this is heaven.
Just a sub note there is a restuarant in Cheshire, called Panama Hattey’s and this is a menu that has it all evan with the best service web site www.panamahattys.co.uk worth a good look
I have been from Hawaii to Florida, but my favorite dish is the Prime Rib at Misty’s in Lincoln, NE. If you like Prime Rib, you can’t beat this steak house.
I have done alot of traveling but there are two restaurants that stick out in my mind as being the best both located in the Orlando, Florida area.
They are KOBES Japanese which serves the best dipping sause ever made on the habachi and PEBBLES Restaurant which has the best white chocolate moose ever made. [/i][/b]
I have eaten at many of the restaurants posted and agree they are excellant. Here are some of my favorites:
#1 Dallas Pappadeauxs, cajun and seafood deluxe. Also located in other Texas cities every one I’ve tried is great. You won’t have room for dessert so go back later and try the sweets.
#2 Kansas City Smokestack BBQ, Jack Stack is also good. In a city famous for barbeque these stand out.
#3 Scottsbluff/Gering Nebraska Bush’s Gaslight Steakhouse, you are not likely to be just passing through far west Nebraska but if you want the best beef go to where they really know the beast. Herford in KC gets a good grade also. I once was given some great advice “Do not order the seafood in Kansas”.
#4 Wichita Kansas Julius Rib Cage, check out the ribs.
#5 Denver The Mountain Man, Buffalo steaks. These folks have their own buffalo herd and know what they are all about.
For Tex-Mex go to Texas and avoid the chains.
i went to us several times and went to many places there but the most wonderful restaurant i have ever went to is PETRA in new Orleans, Louisiana
I just love it
And the funny thing that the owner named his family’s members favorites dish after them…
Luna’s duck
Lubna’s shrimps
Ziad’s chicken … such things
I agree with rziedman about the Northwest and their salmon. If you ever get to the West coast, go to Mo’s Chowder House in Seaside Or. for the best home made clam chowder I have ever tried. Easy to make a meal out of with sour dough bread.
i don’t remeber what town all i know is i was a truck stop out in new mexico…had the pleasure of eating a stew put in a big pop-over dinner roll made in a ceramic flowerpot…i later found out the stew was rattlesnake but it tasted and smelled like beef…it was delicious…
I live in Pittsburgh Pa. The best Itialin food i have ever tasted comes from some shops called Di Petros. theres one in Slippery Rock, ironically its not a Di Petros, but I cant remember the name. Their best foods, is the chicken Parmisian. Or so I think.
The short list: 8)
Vancouvir BC canada=“A fine kettle of fish” --All wild local seafood in an English garden style atmosphere.
Houston, Tx USA= La Fendee–a hole in the wall middle eastern place with the BEST baba gnanoush (sp?) Great khafta kabob too
Houston Tx, USA="The Spagetti Western"Named after the 60’s westerns made in Italy, they have 3 pizzas,(yeah you guessed it) the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!LOL
The Long list—I don’t have enough room.
I live in the center of Iowa and I have to vote for the food at the Brick Haus in main Amana, Iowa. Yep, it’s the same area that we make Amana refrigerators! Their family style breakfasts are out of this world. It is all German heritage.
The best place I found is here in Arkansas at China Town Resturant.
It is own and operated by a china family. The buffet style meals are the best I ever ate. My husband and I have tried many other china resturants and none compare with the one in Conway Arkansas.
Hi, I’m from Pocatello Idaho, have lived here since 1995. I have not been to alot of fancy places to eat, as we live on the end of the shoe string in my family. But I have had some good food, in differant places in my time, so here goes: Their is this truck-stop out side of town,in  Loveland Colo. on the interstate called (Johnsons Corner). They serve the largest, biggest, Thickest - Chicken Fried Steak!! I have ever ate. Along with Homemade-mash poto. & gravy. The Pies and desserts are always homemade, and the servings are HUGE!! and the price is cheap, to boot! Also, Forks Wash.- their is a place just outside of town called the (SmokeHouse) and they serve fresh Sea-food, and also sell gift pakages for shipping to people, like (smoked Salmon) and such. Depending on the cook, sometimes your portions vary on size, but you never walk away hungry. But I think I would have to say one of the most interesting places I have ever ate in, a place called Farmer’s Market in  Seattle Wash. So many differant cultures you have many differant types of foods to try in such a small block area.
I haven’t been to too many places, but I saw Vancouver, B.C. It has everything and the best Chinese food outside of China.
The best city I have ever visited for restaurant service is Montreal.
Lots of various choices, the best among all is Milos (Greek fish restaurant).
The service is unique, the food choice is unbelievable.
