I purchased a zester, but I can not make it work satisfactorily. It has a flat blade with a bend near the end. Within the bend is a row of holes and the end is scalloped with a beveled edge. No matter what angle I hold it at, when I pull across the orange (similar to pulling a hoe), it does not penetrate the skin at all. If I push, the result is the zester penetrates too deep. At no time do the holes seems to matter.
I tried a very fine grater and seemed to get a fine zest of just the surface but it was difficult to get the zest off the grater.
Any suggestions?
